What is a Virtual Assistant?
Sounds like an Assistant that is not really there... like virtual reality! Well, that is partially true. The Assistant is real, just not physically located in your office.
What a concept! The internet makes it possible to have an Assistant without the overhead of office space, employee benefits, office equipment, etc.
As your Virtual Assistant, I use my own computer and equipment to support you and your administrative needs. All in the comfort of my own home, without taking up space in your office.
The International Virtual Assistants Association definition: "A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis."
How Does It Work?
In the real estate industry, typically, real estate agents use forms to gather the information about their clients and listings. Using a computer, the information is entered into a software system, by the agent or an administrative person.
This process stays pretty much the same when using a Virtual Assistant. The information is still gathered in some form. Then, the agent transmits the information to their Virtual Assistant (via fax, e-mailing scanned documents, or MLS e-mail). The Virtual Assistant enters the information into the appropriate system.
Professionals in other industries can also benefit from using a Virtual Assistant. With the internet, most systems are accessible over the internet. That's the magic of it all!
